About

Welcome to my home on the web.  I guess I’ll start with a little background about as to how this site got started.  I have been running Grand Prix races since the mid 90’s, after my church decided to start the Awana Program.  Our first race was on an old three lane track built for our CSB group.   After being the finish line judge for that first race, I figured there had to be a better way, and started my research into electronic finish lines.

I built my first GP track and with the help of a friend my first electronic finish line with computer interface.  What a difference.  We had a great day of racing and didn’t have to worry about calling the wrong lane as the winner.  Over the years there have been a few changes in the technology and a kind of standardization in the track designs.

I have just completed my third, four lane, wooden track, and have the parts gathered to build my fifth electronic finish detector.  In addition I have also build detectors for other people along the way.

I wish to share what I have learned along the way to help others in there pursuits to build and run there own Grand Prix, so this site contains track plans and links to resources to help you on your journey.  I continue to update this information as I have time adding pictures and details.

I hope the information on this site is helpful to you as you plan and run your own Grand Prix or Pine Wood Derby.
